Netaji Research Bureau is Established in 1961 at the Bose family house on Elgin Road, this bureau holds the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose archieval material including Freedom Library and his personal effects. It is open from 12 noon to 4 pm.

Kalighat Temple

Kalighat Temple The original temple was a small hut. A small temple was constructed by King Manasingha in the early Sixteenth century. The present temple was built in 1809 on the site of an ancient temple.Located in the city of Kolkata on the banks of the river Hooghly (Bhagirathi), it is popularly known as Kalighat. There is a theory that the name Kalikata anglicised into Calcutta and is derived from the temple at Kalighat.
The temple at Kalighat as a place of worship for the Sakti cultists was set up by the Sabarna Roy Choudhurys, A famous Brahmin Zamindar family of Barisa in the district of 24 Parganas. This family was one of the foremost Brahmin families in Bengal and still continues to be very highly regarded for the various contributions to the cultural development of Bengal. Different branches of the Sabarna Roy Choudhurys had settled themselves at other villages, namely, Halisahar, portions of Calcutta, Baruipur, etc.

Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture

The Ramakrishna Mission Institute of Culture at Gol Park, Calcutta, is a branch of Ramakrishna Math and Ramakrishna Mission, Belur Math (Worldwide headquarters of all RKM centres and sub-centres.). The Institute is well known for its philanthropic, educational and cultural activities all over the world. The building is having a very good Auditorium with a very good Library which contains rare books on History, Religion, Philosophy etc.

Thanthania Kalibari

Thanthania Kalibari is situated in Shyam Bazar, as you go towards Shyambazar via Bidhan Sarani you can see this temple to your left. Opinions differ about the date of construction of Thanthania Kalibari. Some say it was built in 1703 whereas some regard it as 1803. On the stone structure in the temple wall is inscribed, ’1110′ (Bengali calendar). Going by this, the date of the foundation of the temple should be 1703 according to English calendar.

Dakshineswar

Dakshineswar is a renowned place in the city of Kolkata. The place forms one of the peripheral suburbs of the city of Kolkata. Located to the extreme north of Kolkata, the sururb happens to be about 14 kms from the heart of the city. The townsip is connected to the rest of the city by the Barrackpur Road. The Vivekananda Bridge further connects the region with that of Howrah city. The famous spiritual leader Rama Krishna Parmahamsa is believed to have achieved spiritual vision in the temple. Build by Rani Rashmoni in the 19th century, its a place of pilgrimage where Sri Ramakrishna Parmahansa Deva worshipped Goddess Kali and attained salvation.
