Despite the touch-up, Flurys still wears that 30’s look: period furniture and smartly-dressed waiters in black and grey, reminiscent of the days of the Raj. If you are on-the-go you could get a few pastries and snacks wrapped up but if you’ve got time on your hands, you’ve got to do it differently. Settle down at one of the tables overlooking Park Street and watch the world go by through the massive glass facade. But don’t forget that you are also supposed to order.

The breakfast spread at Flurys includes eggs (of your choice), bacon, sausages, baked beans on toast, an English triangle sandwich and a pot of tea. That’s sounds filling. But for lunch, you would do well to choose an open sandwich with tomato and melted cheese, or maybe a stuffed croissant, and baked Cannelloni with a helping of honey-mustard chicken, fries and salad. Wash all of it down with a Viennese coffee and prepare your palate for the rich desserts (Blackforest, rum ball), that this place is so famous for.
