Nehru Children Museum is a centre for children’s activity, collection of puppets depicting the Ramayana & the Mahabharata, toys & dolls and a huge library for children. This is opened on all days except Mondays from 12-00 noon to 8 pm.

Zoological Garden

Zoological Garden was Established in 1875, and spread over nearly 100 acres in the heart of Kolkata are the Zoological Gardens. Inaugurated by the Prince of Wales in 1876, it is one of the oldest and the largest Zoos of India.

Netaji Research Bureau

Netaji Research Bureau is Established in 1961 at the Bose family house on Elgin Road, this bureau holds the Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose archieval material including Freedom Library and his personal effects. It is open from 12 noon to 4 pm.

Kalighat Temple

Kalighat Temple The original temple was a small hut. A small temple was constructed by King Manasingha in the early Sixteenth century. The present temple was built in 1809 on the site of an ancient temple.Located in the city of Kolkata on the banks of the river Hooghly (Bhagirathi), it is popularly known as Kalighat. There is a theory that the name Kalikata anglicised into Calcutta and is derived from the temple at Kalighat.
The temple at Kalighat as a place of worship for the Sakti cultists was set up by the Sabarna Roy Choudhurys, A famous Brahmin Zamindar family of Barisa in the district of 24 Parganas. This family was one of the foremost Brahmin families in Bengal and still continues to be very highly regarded for the various contributions to the cultural development of Bengal. Different branches of the Sabarna Roy Choudhurys had settled themselves at other villages, namely, Halisahar, portions of Calcutta, Baruipur, etc.

Rabindra Bharati Museum

The Rabindra Bharati Museum contains vestiges of the Bengal Renaissance of the nineteenth century. Situated near Girish Park on Chittaranjan Avenue, it is open from 10.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. on weekdays (1.30 p.m. on Saturdays).
